The Iowa Cubs were shut out in their series finale yesterday with Indianapolis. Iowa was held to just five hits on the afternoon, and they went 0-3 with runners in scoring position. Will Sanders got the start on the mound and tossed five solid innings. He allowed three runs, five hits, struck out four, and didn’t issue a walk. Indy got on the board in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer. They then added one in the fourth with an RBI groundout and another in the sixth on an RBI single.

Double-A Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies’ 2025 season came to a close on Sunday with a 7-3 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits. The Smokies fell behind from the jump with Montgomery putting up a pair of runs in the second, another in the third. Knoxville got on the board to cut into the deficit with a Brett Bateman sac fly, making the score 3-1, but the Biscuits came back with two more in the bottom half to increase their lead to four. Yenrri Rojas started for Knoxville and issued five runs on six hits through four innings.
In the seventh, Andy Garriola blasted a two-run homer to get Knoxville back within two runs, but yet again Montgomery had an immediate answer with a run in the bottom half, and another in the eighth to take home a 7-3 win.
