“The fact that it was something new and fresh and exciting, I think a lot of people were nervous that it was going to be too… I just thought [that] people are really going to appreciate the accuracy because a lot of other medical shows don't dig in like that, and we did it,” Ganesh, who plays Dr. Samira Mohan, explained.

The series received 13 nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and acting nominations for actor Noah Wyle, actress Katherine LaNasa and recurring guest star Shawn Hatosy, the latter of whom already took home the award at the Creative Arts ceremony.

As to how they’ll celebrate at their Emmys afterparty, Ganesh told Parade, “I think there's been some whispers of what we might be able to do at the HBO afterparty, so let's see! We’re hoping for some good news, so we can pull that off.”

Right now, Ganesh is just living in the moment. “With [costar] Gerran [Howell] the other day, we were at this party, and I just remember looking at him and going, ‘Oh my God, we really started this journey together’ because our characters were paired up at the beginning of the show, and I just started crying. And he was like, ‘Oh my God, did I upset you?’ And I was like, ‘No. I promise they are happy tears.’ It's just so surreal.”
