Paul Finebaum is writing Clemson off in 2025.
Finebaum appeared on The Matt Barrie Show to talk with his ESPN colleague about the biggest stories of Week 3 in college football. Clemson’s loss to Georgia Tech was one of those top stories.
The Tigers were ranked No. 12, but have dropped out of the AP Top 25 after falling to 1-2 with the loss to the Yellow Jackets. Barrie asked Finebaum what the outlook is for Clemson going forward.
“Clemson’s season is over,” Finebaum declared.
The Tigers have been written off before, but Finebaum said 2025 is different.
“You could say, well, hold on, you know, remember what they did last year? Yeah, I remember what they did last year, but they’re not doing that this year, because somebody has kidnapped Cade Klubnik, because that’s not the same player,” Finebaum mused. “I gave him a pass after one game, but not anymore. Something’s going on there.”
Finebaum also cited an external reason for why he doesn’t expect the Tigers to get back in the College Football Playoff picture.
“And the problem they have is that last year, the ACC was weak. It’s not (this year). It’s a good league,” Finebaum told Barrie. “So I don’t know how they can find a path back. They could get, they can do some of the damage themselves, but that might not be enough.”
Clemson will try to get back on track in Week 4 as it hosts Syracuse for its home ACC opener.
