Chicago Cubs Lineup:

I’m not happy that Kyle Tucker is out hurt and Seiya Suzuki is out sick, but if they are going to miss time, at least we get to see Moises Ballesteros and Owen Caissie.

In case you missed the Cubs roster move earlier this morning, Caissie came up for Kevin Alcantara, in large part because the Cubs don’t seem too optimistic on the return timeline for Tucker. And that, plus Suzuki’s illness, means there should be some more starts for Caissie over the next several days.

Other than that, Michael Busch is leading off, Ian Happ is still batting second, and Matt Shaw rounds out the Cubs lineup in his usual spot, ninth.

Chicago Cubs: Colin Rea, RHP

Colin Rea enjoyed the benefits of an opener in his last “start,” but it went very well thereafter: 5.1 IP, 3H, 1ER, 0BB, 6K. That’s about as good as you can hope for from your 8th turned 5th starter.

He won’t have an opener today, however, and the Rays (104 wRC+ vs RHP) are a pretty good offense against righties. Throw in the fact that the wind is blowing slightly out to right, and, well … let’s just say the Cubs lineup may need to do some damage of their own to win this one.

Tampa Bay Rays: Drew Rasmussen, RHP

Unfortunately, Drew Rasmussen is having a pretty fantastic season overall, with a 2.64 ERA over 28 starts (139.2 IP). His peripherals are about a full run worse (3.50 xERA, 3.73 FIP), but even those are still very strong.

On a more granular level, Rasmussen isn’t striking many batters out this year (21.8%), but he’s not walking guys (5.8%), and he’s getting a ton of groundballs (48.7%), preventing many barrels (6.5%) in the process. It’ll be a tough one for the Cubs lineup.

For his career, Rasmussen is pretty close to split neutral. But this season, lefties are struggling less against him than righties (still rough numbers for all hitters, though).
