As I noted earlier this week when considering the market, Knight has not started more than the 35 regular-season games he appeared in last year. Going big money with max term was a dangerous proposition for any goaltender, but especially for one with a relatively limited track record. Which makes this another incredibly smart deal from Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson.
The term and dollars on this are both smaller than what the market led us to believe, but clearly the Blackhawks wanted to get something done with Knight before training camp begins next week.
