Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Blake Hill of Concord, California, has committed to swim and study at the University of North Carolina, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. He trains year-round with the Pleasanton Seahawks and attends De La Salle High School.

Hill, who specializes in butterfly, backstroke, and IM, confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam. He provided the following quote:

I am so excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I’d like to first thank God, my family, coaches, and teammates for their support. I would also like to thank Coach Mark and Coach Kirk for this amazing opportunity. Go Tarheels!

The future Tar Heel’s first target meet of this past season was the Winter Junior Championships, held in Austin in December. His highest placement came in the 400 IM, where he touched 15th overall. He also nabbed 21st in the 200 fly, 30th in the 200 back, 85th in the 100 fly, and 95th in the 500 free. His prelim swims in the 200 fly (1:47.34), 100 fly (49.91), and 400 IM (3:52.26) all marked personal bests before even adding in his finals times. He also led off the 28th-place 400 medley relay with a 49.51, which stands as his current PB in the 100 back.

Another target meet was Speedo Sectionals in Justin this March. He collected more best times in the 200 free (1:42.79), 200 back (1:47.19), and 200 IM (1:52.93), securing 55th, 12th, and 18th in those events. His top finishes came in the 400 IM and 200 fly, where he took ninth in both, clocking 3:52.67 and 1:48.28.

He wrapped up his short-course season with his high school team at the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships in May. There, he led off the 200 medley relay that hit the wall 15th in 24.23, went 50.04 for 16th in the 100 back, and notched 49.70 for 14th in the 100 fly.

    Top SCY Times:

    100 Butterfly: 48.89 200 Butterfly: 1:47.07 100 Backstroke: 49.51 200 Backstroke: 1:47.19 200 IM: 1:52.93 400 IM: 3:52.26

Under the direction of head coach Mark Gangloff, the Tar Heel men finished fourth out of 15 teams at the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships. It was a blockbuster year for the squad as they were 8th out of 11 teams in 2024.

The team went on to place 23rd at the NCAA Championships, with IM specialist Louis Dramm (10), breaststroker Ben Delmar (4), and butterflier Patrick Foy (1) accumulating all of their individual points.

According to the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, Hill would have ranked eighth in the 400 IM, ninth in the 200 fly, 10th in both backstrokes, 12th in the 100 fly, and 14th in the 200 IM.

The conference meet offers ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals, and it took times of 46.21 and 1:44.27 in the flys, 46.71 and 1:42.64 in the backs, and 1:44.70 and 3:47.80 in the IMs to earn a second swim last season.

Hill joins Isaac Carsel and Evan Gluck as UNC’s only publicized commits in the 2030 recruiting class.
