"Truly sick to my stomach over what happened in my hometown today," Arnold, 31, who exited DWTS after Season 30, wrote on Sept. 10. "My heart and prayers go out to all those affected and especially to the Kirk family for their loss. I don't care what your beliefs are.. murder and violence in any form IS WRONG!!!!!!!!"
Later on Wednesday, Arnold returned to her Instagram Stories with a screenshot of someone asking her in a DM: "Why are you posting about this but not about all of the school shootings or other monstrosities that happen?"
In response, she shared, "This shooting hit close to home for me (figuratively and literally) being that it happened at a university that I can literally see from my kitchen window. It's not even 10 minutes away from my childhood home and people I know were at that school today and it was scary."

Arnold doubled down on her previous statement, adding, "I stand by what I said that I don't care what your beliefs are, murder and violence is WRONG!!!!! The saddest part is that this kind of thing is happening daily all over and no I don't comment on every tragedy but if you know me you know that I feel the same about every single one. It's heartbreaking and horrible!"
To conclude her message, she pointed out, "I don't know why these comments feel necessary for people to say. Acknowledging one awful tragedy does not take away from another. My heart breaks for all those who lose loved ones to heartless violent acts."
Arnold reacted to the Colorado high school shooting on her Instagram Stories not long afterward, writing, "Today is heavy and my heart breaks for these poor students and families ?."
Similar to Arnold, Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure has responded to criticism of her message bout Kirk's death on social media.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, the FBI released photos of a “person of interest” and also recovered the rifle allegedly used during the shooting. A manhunt is ongoing.
