"Our rule is, until they're old enough to plan it themselves, it's supper at grandparents," Ben shared. He admitted that at this point, he and his wife are "anti-giant birthdays."
Erin suggested, "If your 4-year-old's birthday party looks like a wedding, what do they have to look forward to?"

Ben explained that his birthdays growing up were "amazing" and "awesome," and they typically involved a gathering at a park with his mom's homemade cake, some pizza, and his siblings.
Even before Mae and Helen were born, Erin and Ben were in agreement that they didn't need "stressful and loud" children's birthday parties filled with chaos and lots of small children running around.
