Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert sent a bold political message after Charlie Kirk's death at 31 during a shooting.
On Wednesday, Sep. 10, Kirk’s spokesperson, Andrew Kolvet, confirmed his death to The New York Times. The Turning Point USA founder and a conservative activist was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University, a spokesperson for the university told the publication.

After news of Kirk's death broke, Gilbert took to Instagram to share her reaction.
"Horrendous news coming out of Utah right now," Gilbert, 61, wrote. "My prayers go out to Charlie Kirk, his family and all those (especially students) who witnessed the shooting."
The former child actress behind Laura Ingalls Wilder added in the comments, "Just read about the shooting at the high school in Colorado. America is broken."

In the comments, Gilbert's fans chimed in with their reactions to Kirk's death and the topic of gun violence in the U.S.

As of writing, a "person of interest" that was previously announced was released from custody, as a manhunt continues following the assassination of the "most prominent conservative activists in the country," CNN reported.
