Public figures are speaking out following the shooting death of Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, September 10.
That includes Hollywood, as Jimmy Kimmel just took to social media to share some emotional thoughts about the assassination of Kirk at age 31. He was a conservative activist and President Donald Trump ally who died Wednesday after being shot at a college event in Utah.
Kimmel, 57 — who has established himself in Tinseltown as one of Hollywood’s most biggest Trump critics — posted on Instagram Wednesday with the urgent message to stop “angry finger-pointing” following Kirk’s tragic death.
“Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” the ABC late-night host wrote on Instagram. “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

As fans of Jimmy Kimmel Live! are well aware, Kimmel frequently criticizes Trump, 79, on the show. The Emmy-winning host even announced on The Sarah Silverman Podcast last month that he's obtained Italian citizenship amid the sitting president's second term.
“I feel like it’s probably even worse than he would like it to be,” Kimmel said on the podcast.
On a similar note, other comedians have also exited the U.S. of late. That includes Ellen DeGeneres, who moved to London with her wife Portia de Rossi in late November 2024. The former TV host, 67, then confirmed to the BBC in July 2025 that they decided to stay for good once Trump won his latest bid for the White House.
Then, there’s fellow comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who stood by her promise to relocate if the former judge of The Apprentice were to take office again. O’Donnell, 63, posted on TikTok in March 2025 that she had officially moved overseas.
