By Terin Frodyma on SwimSwam

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Greater Omaha Aquatics’ Meredith Peyton has committed to stay in-state, joining the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ women’s program for the fall of 2026.

I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Nebraska to continue my academic and athletic career! Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey! Huge thank you to Coach Pablo and Coach Patrick for giving me this amazing opportunity! Can’t wait to be a Husker! GO BIG RED!

The Omaha Marian High School senior has claimed back-to-back Nebraska state titles in both the girls’ 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle. As a sophomore, Peyton nabbed the first two of her four individual titles, touching in 1:51.75 in the 200 free and 55.56 in the 100 fly, both swims marking new lifetime bests at the time.

A year later, the Valley, NE native would replicate her success in an even faster fashion. Winning both events in new all-time top performances, clocking 1:50.27 in the 200 free and 54.27 in the 100 fly. Her 100 fly performance downed the Nebraska State High School record previously held by Kaitlyn Witt, who established a mark of 54.48 in 2018.

Peyton has been a part of two Nebraska State Championship-winning Omaha Marian teams, having claimed the girls’ team title in her freshman and junior seasons, and a team runner-up finish as a sophomore.

Earlier this summer, Peyton raced at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Madison, where she swam to a lifetime long course best in the 100 fly in 1:03.11, finishing 21st overall. She also clocked a season best in the 200 backstroke in 2:25.13.

Nebraska finished 10th at the Women’s Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships last season. Based on Peyton’s best times, she would have finished 36th in the 100 fly, 47th in 200 free, and 59th in the 200 IM.

Greater Omaha Aquatics’ adds Peyton to its growing list of Division I swimmers that have been developed within the club, a list that includes Nate Germonprez (U.S. National Team member, junior at Texas), Jacob Molacek (former American Record holder and NCAA champion with NC State), Jojo Randby (Marian and Nebraska Alumni, 2nd fastest 100 breast in Nebraska history), and Kalvin Hahn (Academy Record holder in the 400 IM at Army), among others.

Peyton’s teammate at Omaha Marian, Alaria Hadford, will be making her debut for the Cornhuskers this season.

Peyton joins Dominika Borkowska in Nebraska’s 2026 recruiting class.
