The Nevada women’s swimming and diving program is welcoming back one of its own.
On Monday, Nevada head coach Brendon Bray announced that alum Reese Lamph has been hired as an assistant coach.
A native of Las Vegas, Lamph swam for Nevada from 2020 to 2022 after transferring into the program from the University of Houston.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Reese join our staff at Nevada,” Bray said in a release. “With her great attitude and respected background swimming at one of the best clubs in the country, I think she is the perfect fit for our staff. It is special for me to have worked with Reese as an athlete because I know the positive impact she can have on the team, and I look forward to having her help our program in this new role. We can’t wait to get started!”
While at Nevada, Lamph competed primarily in the 500 free, 1650 and 400 IM. In 2021, Lamph finished 6th in the 1650 free (17:12.05) and 13th in the 500 free (4:59.75) to help the Wolf Pack earn a 2nd-place finish at the Mountain West Championships.
Lamph already has some coaching experience under her belt, having been an assistant coach for her mother, Becky, the head coach at Andelson High School in Las Vegas.
Growing up in Las Vegas, Lamph was a standout at both the club and high school level. At Palo Verde High School, she set school records in the 100 back and as part of a 200 medley relay team. On the club level, she trained with the Sandpipers of Nevada and U.S. Olympic coach Ron Aitken.
Lamph, who graduated from Nevada in 2022, will begin her coaching tenure immediately. She replaces Kristen Quiqley, an assistant on last year’s staff who was hired at Simon Fraser University.
Nevada finished fourth at last year’s Mountain West Championships.
