Saratoga students to perform at Carnegie Hall in April

Students play Carnegie Hall

More than 50 Prospect High School students will be playing at a band and orchestra festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City next spring.

The Prospect High School Band and Orchestra were invited to perform at the National Band & Orchestra Festival. The Saratoga students will be traveling with Prospect’s music director AJ Gonzales. He has been teaching for four years, and this is his first trip to Carnegie Hall with WorldStrides, a student travel company.

“This opportunity is truly once in a lifetime for our students,” said Gonzales in a press release. “Performing at Carnegie Hall represents the pinnacle of musical achievement, and our students have worked incredibly hard to reach this level.”

The students will also have the opportunity to rehearse and perform under the guidance of nationally acclaimed conductors and adjudicators and to participate in educational workshops at the festival, set for April 1-5, 2026.

The school has set up a fundraiser to offset trip expenses and purchase new and refurbished instruments and sheet music. To donate, visit app.schoolfundr.org/fund/prospectmusic25.
