CUBS LINEUP — The Cubs had a disappointing weekend, but baseball is played every day. So we try again tonight. Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup with Shota Imanaga on the mound and against a guy, Bryce Eder, who dominated the Cubs just last week.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
Michael Busch, 1B Ian Happ, LF Seiya Suzuki, RF Pete Crow-Armstrong, DH Nico Hoerner, 2B Willi Castro, CF Dansby Swanson, SS Matt Shaw, 3B Reese McGuire, CThe big and important news tonight is the return of Pete Crow-Armstrong, who exited Saturday’s game (and sat yesterday) after fouling a ball off his knee. He’s not back out in center field, where most of his value has been mined lately, but it’s good to see him playing nonetheless.
Kyle Tucker, by contrast, remains out…probably shoulda just put him on the IL, eh?
With Tucker out and PCA at DH, Seiya Suzuki covers right field, while Willi Castro takes over center. The former is batting third, behind Ian Happ. And the latter is batting sixth.
Reese McGuire is the man behind the plate, and Michael Busch is leading off.
Atlanta Braves Lineup:
Jurickson Profar, LF Matt Olson, 1B Ozzie Albies, 2B Ha-Seong Kim, SS Drake Baldwin, C Ronald Acuña Jr., RF Michael Harris, CF Marcell Ozuna, DH Nacho Alvarez, 3BPitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Shota Imanaga, LHP
Shota Imanaga has thrown six quality starts in a row, though his best performances were at the front-end of that streak, when he was racking up the strikeouts (just 7Ks over his last 13.0 IP).
That said, he has generally looked good for a while now, and just held these Braves to 3ER over 6.0 innings his last time out.
Atlanta Braves: Bryce Elder, RHP
Bryce Elder does not have good numbers for the season, but lately? Lately, he’s been locked in, including a start against the Cubs last week:
vsNYM: 6.0 IP, 2H, 2ER, 2BB, 6K @PHI: 7.0 IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K @CHC: 7.0 IP, 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 6KNow, facing the same team twice in short order usually benefits the hitters, but Elder is clearly feeling good right now.
Note: Elder is close to split-neutral for his career, and is carrying reverse splits this season.
