Ankara – SANA
Five people were killed and a woman seriously injured when a migrant boat collided with a coast guard vessel off the coast of northwest Turkey.
The Balikesir governor’s office said in a statement Sunday that the boat, carrying 34 migrants and smugglers, struck a coast guard vessel near Badavut in the Ayvalık region.
The Aegean Sea remains a key but perilous route for migrants attempting to cross from North Africa and the Middle East into Europe.
