“I feel so blessed to become part of JMU’s women’s swim team in 2026. It is an awesome program and Head Coach Dane and Assistant Coach Becca are amazing. I am so excited to become apart of this wonderful swim family! GO DUKES!!”

Buckman swims for Cumberland Valley Aquatic Club. She finished her long course season at Futures in Greensboro, posting best times in all of her events. Based on her best times, Buckman has the potential to make a huge impact for JMU. Her best time in the 100 fly would have been 4th at the conference level, just ahead of JMU’s Ann Chappell Ellington who was 4th in a 55.34. Buckman’s best time in the 100 back would have been 6th, just ahead of Sarah Pauley from JMU who swam to a 56.27.

Buckman will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Ava Simpson who hails from North Carolina. Simpson specializes in mid-distance freestyle.
