Damascus, SANA-A plane belonging to the Qatari Air Force arrived Sunday at Damascus International Airport, carrying 12 tons of advanced medical equipment.
The aid was provided by Sidra Medicine and other Qatari entities, as part of the “Syria Abshiri” initiative to support Syria’s healthcare sector.
The shipment included ventilators, portable incubators for newborns, dialysis machines, anesthesia and imaging equipment, cardiac and oxygen monitoring systems, as well as advanced radiology and laboratory analysis devices. The goal is to enhance the capacity of Syrian hospitals to deliver vital services.
Syrian Health Minister Musab al-Ali said that this aid is part of an agreement to deliver medical equipment via both land and air bridges. He noted that 90 tons of aid have arrived so far and will be distributed to around 50 hospitals based on the level of need in each province.
Head of the Qatari Red Crescent, Yousef bin Ali al-Khater, affirmed that this initiative reflects the deep ties between the two peoples and is part of a comprehensive campaign to rehabilitate Syria’s healthcare sector.
President of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Dr. Hazem Baqleh, stated that this shipment marks the beginning of a continuous support series. Damascus Health Director Dr. Wael Daghmash described the aid as “a new hope” for patients and medical staff.
