A small area of low pressure off to our northwest brought a series of light showers early Sunday morning through Western New York. These showers will start to dry up as the morning continues and temperatures will go from the mid-50s Sunday morning to the upper-60s during the day.
Ample amounts of sunshine, with some passing scattered clouds, may bring down some breezy conditions from aloft, but winds should not gust above 25 mph, and most winds will be out of the west/northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
The chance of rain for Sunday is 30% and decreasing even more as we head through the afternoon and evening. Cooler air moving over the Great Lakes may bring a spotty, brief shower to parts of Western New York later Sunday. However, the nature of these showers is few and far in between and will result in trace accumulations.
Kick-off weather for the Bills game Sunday night looks near perfect with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper-50s. Bring a light jacket with you, as temperatures will drop into the low-50s by the closing of the game. Again, a brief lake shower may make an appearance, but we can expect mainly dry conditions for the duration of the game.
Rochester will wake up a bit chillier Monday morning to start off the work week with temperatures in the mid-40s. However, plenty of sunshine will warm us up to near 70 degrees as a high temperature for Monday. Currently, the rest of the week looks largely quiet — Monday through Thursday with very low rain chances until the end of the week. It is worth mentioning that wildfire smoke from the western U.S. and Canada may make its way over to the East Coast later Monday and into Tuesday. Upper-level flow patterns are favorable for the transport of smoke into our region, and high pressure over the Northeast could bring smoke down to the surface from above.
