(KRON) -- The San Jose Police Department is investigating a violent smash-and-grab armed robbery Friday afternoon at a jewelry store in the 1900 block of Aborn Road.
Woman arrested after using brick to break into Fairfield business: PD“The suspects drove a vehicle through the front of the business,” said San Jose PD in a statement to KRON4. “Multiple suspects entered the store with at least one suspect armed with a firearm. The suspects broke the displays and took jewelry. The suspects fled the scene in multiple vehicles.”San Jose PD said its Robbery Unit is handling the case.A surveillance video of the incident circulating online shows a car crashing through the front of the store, quickly followed by nearly 20 masked suspects rushing in carrying sledgehammers. The owner of the store is shoved to the ground after a struggle with one of the suspects as they continue to smash display cases.
The suspects have not yet been identified and remain at large.San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan reshared the video in a social media post.“This is appalling,” said Mayor Mahan. “Watching this senior get assaulted made my blood boil…These people need to face the harshest possible consequences for their actions. I’ve been in touch with our Police Chief @SJPD_AC_Joseph and will be following the investigation closely.
