Scores of Chicagoans and visitors will descend on Grant Park this weekend as one of the city’s most popular events, Taste of Chicago, returns for the 45th consecutive year.
Dozens of vendors will serve everything from Chicago staples like hot dogs and deep-dish pizza to Mexican cuisine, Thai dishes, cheesecake and much more.
The long-standing culinary tradition, which runs through Sunday, shifted to September to accommodate the NASCAR Chicago Street Race starting in 2023. Prior to that, it occurred in early-to-mid July.
Admission is free and all vendors at the festival take credit cards, though the city warns that very few take cash.
Unlike previous years, you won’t need an event ticket, according to the city’s website. Instead, all food and beverages can be purchased from vendors directly.
The festival’s entrance is located on Jackson Drive west of Columbus Drive, on Ida B. Wells east of Michigan Avenue, and at the intersection of Columbus Drive and Balbo Drive.
New this year, guests will be treated to a drone and fireworks show at 8:15 p.m. Saturday to close out the second night of the festival.
While food will be top of mind for many, there will be no shortage of musical entertainment.
On Saturday, JoJo will perform on the Main Stage at 7 p.m., and Elvis Crespo will take the stage at the same time on Sunday.

Taste of Chicago runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
