ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After two months of payroll issues within the Rochester City School District, the district says paychecks have been issued to over 5,800 employees.
Problems began when some staff within the district were not getting paid due to a transition to a new financial software called Oracle. Nearly 1,000 teachers, paraprofessionals, and teaching aides have been affected.

“Today, the Rochester City School District issued paychecks to more than 5,800 employees. As of mid-day, twenty-eight employees alerted the District that they did not receive a paycheck, representing less than one-half of one percent of the total workforce. These cases are tied to the Oracle transition and include issues such as direct deposit setup errors, recent returns from leave, and time entry corrections. Each case is being addressed individually. The payroll team has been issuing paper checks throughout the day.
This reflects significant progress compared to the summer, when payroll covered about 3,445 staff, and a larger number of issues occurred. Employees were provided with early access to pay slips earlier this week to confirm accuracy ahead of payday. Some summer payroll matters remain under review, and it is anticipated that backpay will be issued no later than the September 19 payroll. Today’s results show notable improvement, even with nearly double the number of employees in the system. Help Desk staffing has been added, and training on proper time entry is continuing.
The District remains focused on ensuring every employee is paid accurately and on time and is encouraged by the progress made as the school year begins.”
