Here we go again.
Agonizing over the Chicago Bears injury report is something I was hoping to do less of in 2025. But here we are, two injury reports into the season, and I am an angsty mess.

PLAYERS WHO DID NOT PRACTICE: Linebacker T.J. Edwards, running back Roschon Johnson
Seeing “DNP” as T.J. Edwards’ status is like a gut-punch. Edwards was the team’s top tackler two years ago and was the squad’s best linebacker last season. The depth at the position behind him doesn’t fill me with much confidence because the top two options — rookie Ruben Hyppolite II and third-year player Noah Sewell — are relatively inexperienced. Tasking them to deal with a tight end such as T.J. Hockenson and a running back like Aaron Jones feels like it is asking a lot of two young players. If Edwards can’t play on Monday Night Football, then Tremaine Edmunds will have to do some heavy lifting.
ICYMI: Thursday’s Bears Injury Report
As for Roschon Johnson, a foot injury that has lingered since training camp continues to keep him sidelined. Having two running backs on the Bears injury report leaves the team with just one healthy running back (D’Andre Swift) and trainers taking hand-off reps from backup quarterback Tyson Bagent at practice. That isn’t ideal.

Some clarity regarding the players listed as having limited participation will come on Saturday when game day designations are posted along with the final injury report update of the week. Jaylon Johnson is pushing toward playing in Week 1, but it is fair to question at what percentage he will be and how much he can give when you consider he didn’t participate in training camp or play in any preseason games.
When it comes to Kyle Monangai, the thought of a running back having a hamstring issue is worrisome. Saturday’s practice and participation report will be telling. The same can be said about cornerback Josh Blackwell, who is dealing with a groin issue.
PLAYERS WHO HAD FULL PARTICIPATION AT PRACTICE: Wide receiver/return specialist Devin Duvernay, defensive lineman Dominique Robinson
Seeing a special teams ace like Devin Duvernay getting the full-go treatment each of the last two days is encouraging. I would like to share a similar sentiment regarding Dominique Robinson, if only because the Bears’ pass rush concerns have me thinking this could be an all-hands-on-deck situation on game day. The more healthy bodies the Bears have, the better their odds are of getting to the quarterback on any given game day.
There is just one more injury report that will drop between now and Monday’s kickoff. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for some good news.
