ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Fall weather makes a return to the Great Lakes this weekend, just in time for opening weekend of football! A cold front slowly pushing through by Saturday morning will keep us cloudy and much cooler on Saturday with some showers around at times. The wettest part of the day will likely be in the morning, with at least a little bit of drying and clearing into the afternoon, especially west of Rochester. The Finger Lakes region may tend to hang onto the rain a little longer into the afternoon. High pressure builds back in by Sunday, meaning mainly dry weather and more sunshine. Still, it’ll be cool with a noticeable breeze. Saturday and Sunday will both top out in the mid 60s for highs.
If you’re going to the last Bills season opener at the current Highmark Stadium on Sunday, enjoy! And bring a sweatshirt. Temperatures for tailgating will hold in the lower 60s, but we’ll be dropping into the 50s for the game.
Then we begin to warm up nicely again into next week. A big area of high pressure continues to slowly drift overhead. This will keep us dry and comfortable with plenty of sunshine starting on Monday. Highs on Monday will hold in the 60s, but we’ll climb back into the 70s for Tuesday and Wednesday. A moisture-starved cold front will move through on Thursday, with the slight chance of a shower. Otherwise, expect mainly dry weather through the majority of next week.
