A nostalgic throwback shot shows Stewart wearing a fine wool Armani jacket paired with pearls.
“Giorgio Armani was my first and favorite designer when I started my eponymous company Martha Stewart Living in the 1990s,” Stewart writes in her caption. “I loved his suits his jackets, his long dresses and his coats,” she says, including the pink fine wool jacket she’s wearing in her photo that she wore in celebration of her 50th birthday.
“I admired the man, his business, his impeccable design sense and his elegance. His empire was and is to be forever admired!!!!” Stewart says.
In Martha’s comments, fans also took the opportunity to honor Armani’s memory.
“Brilliant — the man and the tribute,” one of Stewart’s followers said. “You said it, Martha,” another wrote, “I’ve always loved his designs.”
“Totally agree. He was a genius,” someone else commented.
Others were ready to see Stewart share even more of her favorite Armani pieces in honor of the designer. “Perhaps a video tour,” one fan asked. Plenty of other fans echoed the sentiment: “we want more content on this archive!!!” another wrote.

More celebrities posted in honor of Armani on Instagram, including Patti Smith. Like Stewart, she posted a photo in “a favorite jacket from 1978,” designed by Armani that she says she cherished and still has.
Julia Roberts also posted a touching tribute arm in arm with Armani, calling him a legend and a true friend. Fellow designer, Donatella Versace, posted “the world lost a giant today. He made history and will be remembered forever,” on Instagram.
The cause of Armani’s death is not publicly known, and the Armani Group says that a private funeral will be held in Milan this weekend.
“Indefatigable to the end,” the Group writes, “he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections, and the many ongoing and future projects.”
