For a veteran like him, the whole point is to get himself in a good place to max out results when he returns to the big leagues. He did it last time, and I reckon he’ll do it again this time.
Speaking of which, since Jameson Taillon’s IL stint this time was backdated to August 25, he’s eligible to return as soon as September 9. Given that it is exactly five days after his start at Iowa, I’d say the Cubs were tentatively expecting that he’d take this one Iowa start and then come right back into the big league rotation the next time through. Good bet he starts one of those games next week in Atlanta.
