9/11 Tribute Concert: A Salute to Heroes (Friday and Saturday)
Ontario Beach Park is hosting a concert on Friday and Saturday to raise money for Honor Flight Rochester. The “9/11 Tribute Concert: A Salute to Heroes” will also commemorate the service of first responders, veterans, and the military.
All of the proceeds will go to Honor Flight, which flies veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials and reflect together. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Friday, with tribute band “The Seven Wonders,” set to perform, with food trucks and a beer and wine garden. On Saturday, gates will open at noon. Groups “Forever Seger,” “Junkyard FieldTrip,” and “Begging Angels,” are all set to perform.
There will also be over 30 craft and direct sales vendors, the “Home Depot Tricky Tray Auction,” and the beer and wine garden. Tickets start at $27.38. To learn more and buy tickets, click here.
Clothesline Festival (Saturday and Sunday)
The M&T Bank Clothesline Art Festival returns on Saturday and Sunday. More than 320 artists from across the country will display and sell their work at the lawn outside the Memorial Art Gallery.
The festival also includes live entertainment, hands-on family art activities, and opportunities to explore the museum. This will be the first year of the Luvon Sheppard Award for Creative Excellence, recognizing the region’s most talented local artists.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children 12 and under or MAG members. You can get tickets here. This year’s artists include glasswork, woodwork, paintings, jewelry, photography, clothing, pottery, and more. There will also be food trucks. You can see the full lineup for vendors here.
Back to School Bash (Sunday)
The International Plaza will give out free backpacks and other school supplies on Sunday, Sept. 7, to celebrate the return of a new school year.
The Back-to-School Celebration will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at the plaza on North Clinton Avenue. Rochester Prep and Fidelis Care are sponsoring the event. Parking is available on site or on nearby streets.
