If you’ve passed a bookstore in the past decade, you’ve no doubt come across one of Colleen Hoover’s books. The New York Times bestselling author has cranked out 26 books, including standalone novels (RegrettingYou, Reminders of Him), solo-written series (It End With Us, Maybe Someday) and works with coauthors (such as Never Never, her three-part novella series with Tarryn Fisher), and sold a whopping 32 million copies as of May 2025.
And, soon enough, the cinemas will be just as full of Colleen Hoover titles, an array of contemporary romance and psychological thrillers that will get your pulses racing in equal measure. After the rousing theatrical success of It Ends WithUs, the 2024 adaptation starring Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively that grossed a major $351 million worldwide against a $25 million budget, there are several other page-to-screen projects from the prolific author. (Though after all of the messy legal drama between the two actors, we don’t think the tumultuous twosome will be reuniting for the sequel, It Starts With Us.)
“It’s very surreal,” Hoover told The Hollywood Reporter about seeing her books remade for the silver screen. “I think it’s all of the emotions. I’m able to separate it, in the sense that I see the book and the film as two completely separate things. But at the same time, I think they did such a good job condensing [It Ends with Us] into a film that I’m very happy with this adaptation.”

Colleen Hoover adaptations coming out in 2025 and beyond
Regretting You: October 2025 (film)
First up is Regretting You, Colleen Hoover’s 2019 novel “about family, first love, grief, and betrayal that will touch the hearts of both mothers and daughters,” per the book’s publisher Montlake. The emotional tale centers on the strained relationship between young mother Morgan Grant and her headstrong teenage daughter Clara, which becomes exacerbated by a tragic car accident that claims the lives of two family members.
Regretting You is set to be a major motion picture directed by Josh Boone — the filmmaker behind yet another famously weepy book-to-film adaptation, The Fault in Our Stars — and starring Alison Williams (Get Out, Girls) as Morgan Grant and Mckenna Grace (The Handmaid’s Tale, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) as Clara. Rounding out the ensemble is Dave Franco, Scott Eastwood, Willa Fitzgerald, Mason Thames and Sam Moroles, among others. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters stateside on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025.

Reminders of Him: February 2026 (film)
Hoover’s most recent novel, Reminders of Him, was released in January 2022, and it’s already getting the big screen treatment. The “heartbreaking yet hopeful story” chronicles the efforts of Kenna Rowan, a young mother fresh out of prison following a tragic accident, who returns to her hometown hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. Though she’s on the receiving end of much resistance from everyone in the community, she finds an unexpected ally in a local bar owner, with whom she strikes up a romance.
Universal will release the big-screen adaptation of Reminders of Him in February 2026; the studio announced via social media this past August that production had wrapped on the film. Vanessa Caswill (Love at First Sight) is in the director’s chair, with a cast led by Longlegs star Maika Monroe as Kenna. Lauren Graham, Rudy Prankow, Tyriq Withers, Jennifer Robertson, Lainey Wilson and Bradley Whitford also star.

Verity: October 2026 (film)
The star-studded screen version of Colleen Hoover’s popular 2018 romantic thriller Verity was originally supposed to debut in May 2026, but was pushed back to October of that year — it was reportedly a “tactical” move by Amazon MGM Studios to mimic the success of other female-led suspense titles like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, with debuted in October, per Digital Spy.
That extra wait time will no doubt drum up even more anticipation for the Verity flick, which will reunite star Anne Hathaway with her The Idea of You director, Michael Showalter. Hathaway will portray Verity Crawford, a bestselling author whose lucrative publishing career is upended when a horrific car accident puts her into a coma. Eager to complete Verity’s unfinished book series, her husband Jeremy (played by Josh Hartnett) hires struggling scribe Lowen Ashleigh (Dakota Johnson) as a ghostwriter. However, as she sets out to finish what Verity started, Lowen unearths some shocking secrets about the Crawford household.
