ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The “Blue and White Luncheon” at the Hyatt Regency in Rochester Thursday focused on sharing stories of resilience. Local musician Katy Eberts served as the keynote speaker at the event.
Two years ago, Eberts and her band “The Seven Wonders” were involved in a serious crash on the Thruway.

Doctors told Eberts she would never walk again, but she defied the odds and now walks with a cane.

“I never thought of myself as a resilient person, per se, and so I had to really think about, ‘Wow, I guess I have been resilient,’ and think about how and think about what that word meant to me,” said Eberts. “And it made me think about a lot of the other people I’ve met along the way, too, since I’ve been injured and how they’ve been resilient and what they’ve done has inspired me.”
Along with being the keynote speaker, Eberts also performed at the luncheon.
“I am really happy I decided to share this story because it really reached a lot more people than I expected,” said Eberts. “And for as many people as I feel like I’ve helped, they’ve all given back to me the same way. It’s a pretty indescribable feeling.”
Eberts shared her “Eat the Cake” philosophy, which reminds people that life is too short not to savor sweet moments.
Members of Eberts band have previously hosted concerts to benefit Eberts recovery.
