OGDEN, N.Y. — Amazon has officially opened its long-delayed sortation facility on Shepard Road in Ogden.
The 208,000 square-foot sort center have employees working alongside “advanced technology,” to process packages 24/7, to make sure deliveries are on time and accurate.
According to the company, sort centers are “vital logistics hubs,” that organize packages from fulfillment centers to make for a smooth final delivery.
Just last year, a fulfillment center opened in the Town of Gates, where over 2,000 employees work with “advanced robotics technology,” to receive, store, and ship products to customers.
Monroe County Executive Adam Bello said this $75 million project will create more than 150 new full and part time jobs.
Amazon says since 2010, they have invested over $41.5 billion in New York and created over 47,000 direct jobs.
