San Diego County will see slight chances for afternoon and early evening thunderstorms in the mountains and deserts through Thursday, with moisture lingering from a tropical system off Baja California.

The marine layer is expected to deepen overnight, bringing patchy fog to some inland valleys along I-15 corridor during the early morning hours Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures Thursday are expected to reach 75 to 80 degrees near the coast, 83 to 87 inland, 85 to 90 in the western valleys, 89 to 94 near the foothills, 82 to 90 in the mountains and 98 to 102 in the deserts.

A slight surge of moisture Thursday could spark additional storms in the mountains and deserts, the NWS said. By Friday, conditions begin to dry out, with just a chance of storms in those areas.

The weekend will trend cooler and drier, with more coastal low clouds spreading inland at night and early mornings.

High temperatures by Tuesday are forecast to dip a few degrees below average as a trough settles in over the West Coast.
