The Cubs could not pull off the sweep (again), which is always one of those things … it sucks to lose one game, but they won the series … but also they lost the finale, so the crummy taste lingers.
Cade Horton was incredible. Just incredible. What else can you say? It was five near-perfect, no-hit innings, and it wasn’t like he didn’t earn it. He LOOKED like a guy throwing five no-hit innings, you know? Kinda like he’s looked for half a season now. He’s the Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game right now in pretty much any game he starts. It’s that kind of Arrieta-like roll he’s on.
I suppose that’s also what makes the loss particularly odious. The Cubs couldn’t hit a guy who’s been terrible this year (though I did warn earlier that Bryce Elder was coming off back-to-back good starts, so maybe he figured something out). The non-Horton/Hodge relief group couldn’t hold the Braves down.
