ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 33-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision for a stabbing on Joseph Avenue in 2024 that killed a 31-year-old man.

On Aug. 20, 2024, Rochester Police officers say they responded to Joseph Avenue and Seabrook Street where they found Brandon Wyand with a stab wound in the upper body. Wyand was brought to a local hospital where he later died.
After an investigation by the Rochester Police Department, they determined Justin Porter was responsible for stabbing Wyand and arrested him.

Porter previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree related to Wyand’s death.
