A MAN who stabbed his neighbour to death after a row erupted over a door being left open has been jailed.
Daniel Whybrow, 46, killed Raish Ahmed, 50, in a frenzied attack outside his home in Newham, London, on October 5 last year.
Snaresbrook Crown Court heard the pair became embroiled in a bitter dispute over the main door to their block of flats being left open.
After a heated encounter, Raish told his wife Whybrow had tried to assault him.
He went out to meet a friend, but they were ambushed by the killer upon returning home.
A row ensued and the defendant reached inside his kitchen window to pull out a knife.
The court was shown CCTV footage which revealed Whybrow shouting “I will kill you” before lunging towards Raish’s friend.
He then knifed his neighbour multiple times, continuing to stab him as he lay on the floor.
Raish tried to defend the blows with a steering lock, but was tragically left with fatal injuries.
A teenage boy was also wounded by Whybrow in the merciless attack, as he bravely tried to protect Raish.
Emergency services arrived on the scene and an air ambulance rushed Raish to hospital.
The teenager’s injuries were later deemed neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
Officers later arrested Whybrow at this flat, where he hid after the stabbing.
He was charged with attempted murder while Raish fought for his life in hospital.
When the victim died on October 7, two days after the horror, Whybrow was charged with murder.
He was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on August 22 and sentenced to 24 years behind bars.
The judge also added six years for grievous bodily harm to run concurrently.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man who killed his neighbour in a violent attack in Canning Town has been sentenced to life with a minimum 24 years in prison for murder and grievous bodily harm following a Met Police investigation.
“Daniel Whybrow, 46, of Hartington Road, Newham, was handed the sentence on Wednesday, 3 September following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
“Raish Ahmed, who was aged 50, was stabbed repeatedly by Whybrow outside his home. He died two days later in hospital.”
Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Unit, added: “My thoughts remain with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
“I hope the sentencing brings a small measure of peace and justice to them.”
