ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A strong, well defined cold front is moving towards Western New York in the next 24 hours. This will bring a period of showers and possible a few passing thunderstorms with an arrival time between 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Thursday. These storms will be limited in their intensity, but a few lightning strikes, downpours and gusty winds are possible. Since this is the first week of school, there is a heightened level of concern. As a result, the News10NBC meteorologists believe it is prudent to issue the yellow alert for the day. These showers and thundershowers will not last long as the front will move through rather quickly and drier conditions will arrive by late afternoon and evening.
