AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person died in a crash between a vehicle and an Amtrak train in Williamson County late Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office posted on social media shortly before 11 a.m. that there was a "major accident involving an Amtrak Train and Vehicle at SH 79 and County Road 110."
That area is between Hutto and Round Rock. Amtrak said via email that the train was traveling from San Antonio to Chicago when it "came into contact with a vehicle south of Taylor, Texas."
According to Amtrak, there were no initial reports of injuries to the 71 passengers and crew members on board the train. Amtrak said it would work with local law enforcement to investigate the incident.

Amtrak said the train was delayed at the scene.
The sheriff's office said in the post that the Texas Department of Public Safety was working the accident. KXAN reached out to the sheriff's office and DPS to request more information. The Hutto Police Department told KXAN it had officers assisting with the incident.
