Tennis and luxury go hand in hand.
Unlike other sports, almost every top athlete in tennis has a contract with one luxury watch brand or another.
The men’s world No.1 and No.2, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively, are both sponsored by Rolex.
And almost without fail, the pair strap on their watches as soon as their matches are over with to satisfy the needs of their iconic sponsor.
Meanwhile, billionaire heiress Jessica Pegula, daughter of Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula, doesn’t even bother taking her watch off as she insists on wearing it while she plays.
Eagle-eyed fans were able to spot her rocking a DB28xs Starry Seas watch from De Bethune during all of her matches so far at this year’s US Open.
That watch retails for around $90,000, a hefty cost, undoubtedly, but a figure she has already recouped with her progress at this year’s championships.
Pegula is already into the semifinals of the 2025 US Open, meaning she has already earned $1.26 million for her efforts.
The 31-year-old defeated Barbora Krejcikova in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, who beat home favorite Taylor Townsend in the previous round in an emotionally charged match.
Pegula became the first woman since Serena Williams between 2011 and 2014 to reach back-to-back semifinals without dropping a set.
The American’s semifinal opponent, Aryna Sabalenka, is a familiar foe, as the Belarusian defeated Pegula in last year’s final.
The winner of this year’s clash will be guaranteed at least $2.5 million for reaching the final, while the overall champion will take home a mouth-watering $5 million cheque.

Her quarter-final opponent, Marketa Vondrosuova, was forced to withdraw from the Grand Slam due to injury.
Footage showed Vondrousova bending over in pain during a practice session before leaving the court in tears.
“So sorry for Marketa after all she’s been through,” Sabelnka wrote on social media.
“She has been playing amazing tennis and I know how badly this must hurt for her. Take care of yourself and I hope you can recover quickly. Love Aryna.”
After reaching the semifinal stage, Sabalenka became just the fifth player in WTA history to reach the last four at every Grand Slam in a season as the world No.1

Can Pegula extract revenge against Sabalenka?
If Pegula is to overcome Sabelenka, she will need to learn a few lessons compatriot Amanda Anisimova.
Anisimova dumped Sabalenka out of this year’s Wimbledon semis after exploiting her service game, which was horrific on the day.
If Pegula can do the same and use the home crowd to her advantage, she can unsettle Sabalenka, who has struggled in high-pressure moments at every Grand Slam this season.
“It would be cool to be able to get revenge, obviously,” Pegula told reporters.
“It’s going to be a tough challenge. But at the end of a Slam, you expect that to happen, and you expect people to be playing their best tennis and to be playing the best players, because those are the players that are playing the best.”
