The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. sustained a torn right ACL against the Texas Rangers on Monday night.
That will effectively end his season, and the D-backs placed him on the 10-day injured list among a series of roster moves Tuesday.
Arizona also recalled right-hander Taylor Rashi and infielder Connor Kaiser from Triple-A Reno, while optioning reliever Juan Burgos.
Gurriel hit the ground in the sixth inning on Monday after getting out of the way of Blaze Alexander making a diving catch in the left-center field gap.
Gurriel was seen holding his right leg, and trainers were brought onto the field. He stayed down for several minutes until getting up and walking gingerly to the seat of the cart.

Manager Torey Lovullo said postgame that the injury did not look great.

Prior to the injury, Gurriel had been one of the Diamondbacks’ best hitters since the trade deadline, hitting .286 in his last 15 games with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
He has a player option for $13 million in 2026 that is likely to be exercised, adding to the D-backs’ list of guaranteed contracts that will begin the year recovering from serious injuries.
Rashi, 29, returns to the roster after making a 3.0-inning save opportunity in his MLB debut last Thursday before he was optioned as Arizona called up top prospect Jordan Lawlar.
The 28-year-old Kaiser played five games with the Diamondbacks and recorded two hits in 14 at-bats with two RBIs from Aug. 3-17.
Injury-riddled season continues for D-backs
Gurriel’s injury marks another D-backs player lost for the season due to a season-ending injury.
Along with Gurriel, pitchers Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk, Tommy Henry, Kevin Ginkel and Justin Martinez all sustained season-ending injuries earlier in the campaign.
First baseman Pavin Smith was recently placed on the injured list with a quad injury, and Lovullo said on Saturday that he is “trending toward” missing the remainder of the season.
