Jamie Lee Curtis shared a rare memory about a missed encounter with Princess Diana to mark the anniversary of her death.
The Freakier Friday actress shared a touching and personal story on Instagram to honor the late Princess of Wales on August 31. Alongside her remarks was an image of Diana as she embraced her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Curtis wrote that she almost met Diana when she visited the set of the sequel to A Fish Called Wanda, called Fierce Creatures. The cast was filming at Pinewood Studios in London, and when they took a break, the actor left the set.
Curtis wanted to use the restroom, and due to the location's remoteness, she had to travel a mile back to her dressing room. However, as soon as she got there, her driver started "banging on the door," saying that Diana had arrived on the set with William and Harry.

Curtis rushed back, but upon her return, she saw the royal "walking away. and I wasn't going to chase her to tell her how much I admired her." Instead, she wrote Diana a letter, and it was delivered to Kensington Palace.
She received a note back the next day, Diana writing that she understood the situation and looked forward to meeting Curtis at a later date. "She died two months later," Curtis admitted
Diana still inspires the legendary actor to this day. She stated, "I think we all remember the image of her with her arms outstretched after being away from her sons as they ran toward her. She loved them in a way a royal person never had, and she really loved the world, and so she did love well, and even though that day, this day, I'm still moved by her and her grace and courage, I'm also comforted in knowing that she lived a mindful, wise, loving life.
Jamie Lee Curtis also has a royal title
Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagicCurtis, who married actor Christopher Guest in 1984, has a royal kinship to Princess Diana in another striking way. They both married into nobility.
The Guardian reported that Guest holds a British title. “I’m a baron,” he told the outlet. “I’m Lord Haden-Guest. And yes, that’s a novelty. Born into it by accident, obviously. And then your dad dies and you’re the next one.”
Therefore, Curtis is formally known as Baroness Haden-Guest. However, she doesn't utilize this title professionally or personally, telling Architectural Digest, “It has nothing to do with me.”
Despite her royal title, it's her Hollywood lineage that puts her at the upper level of entertainment royalty. Per PEOPLE Magazine, Curtis is the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, known for their roles in the films Spartacus and Psycho, to name a few of their legendary industry accomplishments.
Jamie Lee Curtis currently stars in the film Freakier Friday alongside Lindsay Lohan.
