AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person died overnight following a crash on north Interstate 35 heading south, according to local first responders.
At 11:50 p.m. Saturday, the Austin Police Department said it was working a traffic fatality, which shut down all southbound mainlanes of I-35 during the crash investigation. Traffic was diverted to service roads, according to APD.
Austin-Travis County EMS reported a pedestrian on the interstate was hit by a vehicle. That person died at the scene.
APD said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
