The internet—specifically, those on TikTok—were left "bawling" this week over a touching clip shared by a brand new bride that showed several members of her late father's fire station standing in his place at her wedding, nearly 24 years after his death in the collapse of the Twin Towers.
Kristin Schnacky, who was just three years old on September 11, posted the emotional video showing her gliding through a an ornate wooden door, held open by a white-gloved doorman. “My dad couldn’t show up to my wedding because he was taken from us on September 11th, so look who did," she wrote over it. The next clip showed her stepping down the red-carpeted front steps of the building to find a line of firefighters in front of their apparatus, looking pleased as punch to be there.
The bride went on to explain that the lineup featured both “new and retired” firefighters from her late father’s station, who all stood at attention as she made her way down to seemingly pose for a photo in front of one of their trucks, wiping tears from her eyes as she did so.
“I finally understand why they say ‘It’s a brotherhood,’” she added. “I know my dad was smiling down knowing I was taken care of.”
“Thank you for never forgetting FDNY,” she concluded.
The video followed another viral glimpse at her nuptials, which took place at Rockefeller Center's 620 Loft & Garden rooftop venue, with St. Patrick's Cathedral standing proudly in the background. It was captured from above by a group of locals from their office approximately 35 floors above, showing Schnacky being escorted down the aisle.

♬ In the Mood - Glenn MillerEvery glimpse at the moment drew strong reactions from other TikTokers, but it was the connection to her father that drew many in.
"They all look so proud ?," somebody noted, crying over the reaction of the firefighters.
"One minute I’m at the rooftop wedding.. now I’m here SOBBING ??," one commented on Schnacky's video, with another emphasizing, "Not me bawling rn?."
"All these years and the still showed up," somebody else said in wonder. "Your dad must have been a hell of a guy."
Many also shared their own connections to Marino, including the child of somebody he saved that day.
"Your dad saved my dad’s life on 9/11. In the stairwell. He shoved my dad downstairs for his safety while he climbed the stairs to help," one recounted. "My family and I go to the memorial yearly and place a flower on your dad’s name and honor him with a candle lighting."
"Firefighter Kenneth Marino of FDNY Rescue 1, correct? He was one of the few to make it up to the higher floors of the North Tower to fight fires," another commenter wrote. "Somehow his helmet survived. His story is quite incredible...I won’t forget your father."
"In high school we were all assigned first responders who lost their life on 9/11 and I had the honor of researching your dad and laying a rose on his name at the memorial," someone else shared. "I still have my bracelets with his name on it ? i hope nothing but peace."
The bride lost her father, Kenneth Marino of FDNY Rescue 1, during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. His body was never recovered, and she chose to get married in New York City to feel as close to him as possible on her big day.
