The No. 24-ranked Tennessee Volunteers are having very little issue carving up the Syracuse Orange in their season opener, as they have been making highlight-reel-worthy plays all game on both offense and defense.
Perhaps the best play of the day, though, has been made by junior linebacker Jeremiah Telander, who laid out for an absolutely absurd interception in the third quarter.
The pick came on the Orange’s second play of the third quarter on a perfectly designed blitz where Telander’s teammate, defensive back Jalen McMurray, deflected Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli’s pass up into the air.
Telander kept his eye on the ball and made an impressive diving grab to secure the pick, setting the Vols’ offense up in prime position deep in Syracuse territory.

— gmannVOLS (@gmannVOLS) August 30, 2025Already set up inside the Orange 25-yard line, the Tennessee offense proceeded to march down the short field they were given by Telander and capitalized on the turnover with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Joey Aguilar to Star Thomas.
That score extended the Vols’ lead out to 38-14, putting them even further into the driver’s seat for what’s shaping up to be a dominant first victory of the 2025 campaign for Josh Heupel’s squad.
