Damascus, SANA – Syria’s Minister of Communications and Technology Abdel Salam Heikal arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, leading a ministerial delegation for discussions on advancing cooperation in telecommunications.
The visit comes at the invitation of Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha.
In a post on X, Heikal described the trip as an opportunity to engage with Saudi Arabia’s “outstanding achievements” in telecom and digital innovation. He expressed admiration for the kingdom’s progress and emphasized the value of building shared experiences.
“This visit is a step toward boosting cooperation with what I call ‘our other country,’” Heikal wrote, referencing the slogan displayed by Saudi Arabia at the Damascus International Fair: “We resemble each other.”
Heikal also framed the trip within Syria’s broader strategy to develop a modern digital economy and improve service quality for citizens. “Our goal is to empower youth and support the foundation of a renewed Syria,” he added.
