What Would You Grade the Offense? A Fake Trade Worth Thinking About, and Other Bulls Bullets

College Game Day is on TV. A pumpkin cold brew is in hand. The window is cracked. Not even a fourth-straight Chicago Bulls Play-In loss can kill these vibes!

(Hour 1,456 of Josh Giddey Watch …)

The Chicago Bulls may still be waiting for Josh Giddey to put pen to paper, but the offseason is essentially complete. Teams are only a handful of weeks away from reconvening for training camp, and we have a good idea of what all 30 rosters will look like. With that in mind, Bleacher Report decided to grade each squad’s offense as we head into the 2025-26 campaign. The Bulls prided themselves on improving this area of their attack last season, which is why I have to imagine they would be pretty frustrated with Bleacher Report’s verdict. Greg Swartz gave Chicago a C- and cited the loss of Lonzo Ball, an aging Nikola Vucevic, and the lack of a clear No. 1 option as the reasons why. In all fairness, I can’t really push back on any of those concerns. Sure, Ball didn’t play a whole lot last season, but he was an excellent decision-maker and outside shooting threat. I’ve always been a believer that Vucevic’s game would age rather well, but his days of being a true difference-maker are likely over. As for having a No. 1 option, we all know Coby White can ball out, but whether or not he is ready to carry a Top 15 offense is an appropriate question. At the end of the day, despite all the talk about Chicago’s improvement last season, they still finished 20th in offensive rating. While their PACE was exciting and the three-point shooting was a breath of fresh air, we watched them turn the ball over a ton and barely get to the free-throw line. Until one of those categories trends in the right direction, it’s going to be hard to consider this offense an above-average unit. How does Donte DiVincenzo and Rob Dillingham in exchange for the Bulls’ guard sound? To be honest, this is one of the better deals I’ve seen pitched. As much as I would love for the Bulls to prioritize draft capital, this would land them a 20-year-old former lottery pick who fits nicely into their youth movement. Rob Dillingham remains a super intriguing prospect. He is an extremely shifty three-level scorer who was remarkably efficient during his one season at Kentucky. I would be surprised if the Timberwolves were willing to part ways with him already, but it’s an offer I may have to accept if I’m the Bulls. Also, I don’t think we should totally ignore the inclusion of Donte DiVincenzo. He is a reliable 3-and-D role player who brings some great intensity into the locker room. More importantly, he is on a very reasonable contract and could be used as a strong trade chip for this front office. Again, giving up White isn’t a must for the Bulls, but it is something they’re going to have to consider as his unrestricted free agency inches closer. If a deal like this actually ever came on the table, you have to think long and hard about it. If you have the means, it could be a really fun way to spice up your football season! By the way, if you sign up because of this bullet point, I think we should have to split the winnings. Sounds fair, right? Is Dansby Swanson getting hot at the perfect time? The Cubs’ infielder was a huge part of a big win last night. The Micah Parsons trade still stings, but did the Bears even have what it takes to beat out the Packers’ offer?
