GREECE, N.Y. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested after Greece Police say he tried to cash a fraudulent check, and may have committed similar crimes at various other banks in the area.
Police say it happened on Thursday at around 12:38 p.m. at Tompkins Bank on Long Pond Road. They say they were able to quickly detain the suspect, Cody Thomas.
Thomas was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree and attempted grand larceny in the fourth degree. He is being held at the Monroe County Jail.
Police say Thomas possibly may have committed similar crimes on Wednesday at various banks in Geneseo, Leroy, Caledonia, and other locations.
They say the department’s criminal investigation division is currently working with law enforcement in those areas to coordinate the ongoing investigation.
