ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A group of city kids turned a weekend bake sale into a mission of impact, raising more than $700 for The Center for Youth.
The bake sale took place on a front yard table where they sold hundreds of treats.
The Center for Youth supports young people in crisis, continuing a legacy started by Rochester teens in 1971.
“What we hear is sometimes young people look around and say ‘I want to make a difference’ and that’s what we saw today,” said Elaine Spaull, executive director of The Center for Youth said.
Anna Sinha, a ninth grader at the Harley School, said they chose the Center for Youth as they wanted to choose something more local this year and liked the center’s values and beliefs.
