In a series of tweets on X, the 26-year-old three-time All-Pro said “Thank you, Dallas” and “GO Pack Go!” ahead of a message thanking Cowboys fans for supporting him during his time in North Texas.
In the letter, Parsons said wearing the star and playing for the Cowboys was “more than a dream, it was destiny.”
“From the moment I arrived in Dallas, you embraced me and my family as your own. You made a kid from the East Coast feel right at home in Texas. Every time I pulled up to work, every time I stepped onto that field, I felt the weight and pride of representing you. You didn’t just give me a jersey, you gave me a place to belong,” Parsons wrote.
“Thank you, Cowboys Nation, for every cheer, every moment, and every ounce of love you showed me. Wearing the star has been the honor of my life.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Cowboys are getting DT Kenny Clark and two first-round picks in the trade. The Cowboys have not issued a statement or confirmed the trade.

Parsons was a holdout going into his fifth year, the final year of his rookie deal, and was set to make $24 million per year. He requested a trade earlier this month after reportedly seeking an extension worth more than $40 million per year.
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he negotiated directly with Parsons earlier this year and had reached a verbal agreement on contract length, total value and guarantees.
That deal, Jones said, unraveled when Parsons’ agent stepped in.
“I never wanted this chapter to end, but not everything is in my control. My heart has always been here, and it still is. Through it all, I never made any demands. I never asked for anything more than fairness. I only asked that the person I trust to negotiate my contract be part of the process,” Parsons wrote in his letter to fans. “This is a sad day, but not a bitter one.”
Jones also said the agreement would have made Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history in terms of guaranteed money.
“The world would know that I want Micah if they knew what I had offered him, and he knows what I offered him,” Jones said.
Parsons will be back in Dallas soon enough. The Cowboys host the Packers on Sept. 28 on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
