Nearly 40 years after he was found shot dead in his farmhouse, the death of a Fort Lupton man remains unsolved.

Dreiling returned home from a family gathering to change the water in an irrigation ditch. When he didn’t return after an hour, his family went to check on him and found him face down in his home, according to a Facebook post by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives believe Dreiling may have interrupted a burglary at his residence and was forced to lie prone in a hallway before he was shot, the post states.
