Office of Violence Prevention back-to-school event
The City of Rochester’s Office of Violence Prevention is giving out free school supplies at a community event on Wednesday at the Rochester Community Sports Complex on Oak Street.
People at the event can also learn about job training, youth programs, meditation, conflict resolution, emotional wellness, and more. There will also be haircuts, food, and a sneaker giveaway presented by Bruce Blue. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Office of Violence Prevention serves as a central hub for the city’s initiatives to reduce violence.
Food Truck Rodeo
Food Truck Rodeo is returning to the Rochester Public Market on Wednesday with live music from the band Junk Yard Field Trip. It’s taking place from 5 to 9 p.m.
The market hosts food trucks and live music on the last Wednesday of every month through September. The final event will be on Sept. 24 with music from Steve Grills and the Roadmaster. If you want to enter your food truck, you can apply here.
Final Concerts by the Shore
Ruby Shooz, a 50s and 60s rock & roll band, is set to close out the 39th season of Concerts by the Shore. Wednesday will mark the final night of the free concert series at Ontario Beach Park. It starts at 7 p.m.
The concerts have taken place every Wednesday since early June. There will be food vendors there and parking is available at the beach.
