Boodarian was charged with two counts of murder and a count of residential burglary during a July 17 court appearance.
He appeared in court a second time on August 20. It was reported that Boodarian was unresponsive, with Judge Martin L. Herscovitz stating there was a “doubt as to [the] defendant’s mental competency,” so the criminal prosecution was suspended. Boondarian will appear in court for a competency review on September 3.
