Unity Holidays, owners of the Skirlington Coast holiday park, are hoping to encourage more people to their holiday complex.

They hope to become a premium destination for both holiday home ownership and holidaymakers on the east coast of Yorkshire.

And they have submitted plans for a multi-million pound revamp of their site at Atwick, near Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

The plans which have been submitted to East Riding Council would add a large outdoor swimming and splash area with seating to the complex.

As well as a sun deck and cabanas, and festival gardens with space for outdoor experiences.

The existing facilities are very small

The site is made up of 680 holiday caravans, with another 400 pitches for tents and tourers.

But according to the submitted plans, the existing facilities are very small for the size of the park and have seen little recent investment.

The site owners therefore believe that the new additions would allow Skirlington Coast to encourage more visitors.

And help them move towards more sustainable employment and fewer seasonable jobs.

The new owners took over in 2024 and improved the food, beverage and leisure facilities earlier this year creating 30 new jobs.

And there has been a general expansion of the workforce on the park since the start of 2025.

Unity Holidays views this new set of plans as the next step on the development journey for the park.

Ready to be open by Easter 2026

Should their plans be approved, Skirlington Coast would undertake most of the work during the winter.

They hope that some of the new facilities would be ready to open by Easter 2026.

The resort has worked with neighbouring businesses to add to its fleet and to increase its static caravans.

Skirlington Coast resort director Rob Bruton said: “Last year we spent in excess of £3 million with local caravan manufacturers on this park alone.

“We will continue to source holiday home stock locally as we develop and grow our proposition.

“We also want to create employment for local people, and by improving our offering we hope to encourage more holidaymakers to spend time on the beautiful east Yorkshire coast,

“Which in turn should mean we help drive more visitors to neighbouring towns like Hornsea and Bridlington.”
